iPhone 16 Pro design and display

Although the exterior of the iPhone 16 Pro appears to have undergone no major changes compared to the iPhone 15 Pro, there are some notable smaller tweaks.

Like the rest of the iPhone 16 series, the 16 Pro version has a new Capture button that operates like a camera shutter, and it can also focus shots.

There is also a new colour to look at as Apple opted to bring a 'desert titanium' into the lineup alongside the usual colours.

The Pro also has thinner borders around the display than the 15 Pro. It has a 6.3-inch OLED display with bright micro-lens technology to make the screen feel even more interactive.

iPhone 16 Pro Camera: What’s new?

The iPhone 16 Pro’s camera might not pack the 200MP punch that some expect to rival Samsung but don’t let the 48MP sensor fool you. When it comes to photography, it’s not about raw resolution—it's the sensor size that truly makes a difference. While Apple hasn’t shared the exact sensor dimensions, a teardown should reveal how big it really is.

Apple has redesigned all three of the iPhone 16 Pro’s cameras. The new Camera Control button allows seamless switching between them, turning it into a convenient zoom control. You’ll also have access to more fine-tuned adjustments, putting pro-level control right at your fingertips. However, the two-stage shutter Apple promised will arrive via a software update later this year.

On the brighter side, the iPhone 16 Pro is stepping up its video game with 4K slow-motion recording at 120 frames per second. Even better, Apple is flexing its colour grading capabilities, letting you process footage in Dolby Vision at this high framerate. You can even adjust playback speed post-recording if you’re aiming for cinematic-quality footage.

Switching between quality settings and resolution will be a breeze with the new Camera Control button. Apple has also added new grid guides tailored for social media creators, ensuring your TikTok or Instagram clips have enough space for captions and titles.

iPhone 16 Pro AI and software

Apple Intelligence is at the heart of the iPhone 16 range, and Apple announced a range of features with the launch of the iPhone 16 Pro. From what we’ve seen, the new version of Siri that will be built into the iPhone 16 Pro will feature writing and proofreading tools, generative photo editing tools and more impressive smart assistant capabilities.

The iPhone 16 Pro will launch with iOS18, which has already been installed. It includes the redesigned Photos app, customisation features, and improvements to Mail, Notes, and other productivity tools.

The iPhone 16 Pro also features the A18 Pro chipset to accommodate the higher level of processing power needed. Since chips earlier than the A17 won’t have the power needed to run AI software, these features will be limited to the iPhone 16 range, in addition to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

iPhone 16 Pro vs iPhone 15 Pro: What's the difference?

The 16 Pro has received a 0.2-inch display upgrade over the 15 Pro with a reduced bezel around the screen to give the device a more futuristic look.

Other key areas in which the iPhone Pro has received an upgrade are a 5X telephoto camera from 3X with the 15 Pro and a massive jump from a 12MP ultra-wide camera to 48MP. And, of course, the 16Pro has the new capture button along with the rest of the 16 series.

The faster A18 processor chip in the 16 Pro has been coupled with a larger battery of 3,274 mAh.
